Cholera used to be one of the deadliest diseases worldwide of all time. Centuries ago， neither its cause nor its cure was understood. John Snow detected many victimslinkedto a cholera outbreak lived near a water pump.Hesuspectedthat the polluted water was to blame，so he had the handle of the pump removed.Soon afterwards there was a substantial decline of the disease.
