The literary world has a new starNovelist Abdulrazak Gurnah is this year's winner of the Nobel Prize in literature in recognition of his “compassionate penetration (揭示) of the effects of colonialism (殖民主义) and the fate of the refugee (难民)”

Anders Olsson, the chair of the Nobel committee, said that Gurnah “is widely recognised as one of the world's most preeminent post­colonial writers”
