Are you going to college just for fun? I imagine not. You probably just want to earn a college degree for a good career after graduation, so it's important to consider what degree to pursue and which courses to take. Here are 4 tips for choosing a college degree that matches your career goal.
1. Choose a Career
Before deciding what college degree to pursue, you have to determine first what career you're going to pursue after college. You may be tempted to choose a hot career with a great starting salary for fresh graduates, but be aware that a hot job will not be hot forever.
2. Double Major or Not?
You may have academic reasons for choosing a double major, but most employers won't give you any credit for it; however, in some special cases such as for chemistry technical writers, students with double majors in English and Chemistry are preferred.
3. Choose a College Degree with Courses That Match Your Career Goals
Carefully read through the details of each course offered in a college program before you decide to go for it. The best choice is the one with the most courses that match your career goal.
